Smart and Skilled is the NSW Government's vocational education and training initiative. It helps eligible people gain nationally recognised qualifications through subsidised training.
At Advanced Education and Training (AET), eligible students can undertake CHC30221 Certificate III in School Based Education Support under this funding program.

Eligibility
- Live or work in NSW (or meet an approved border-area requirement).
- Be at least 15 years old.
- No longer be at school (except approved home-schooled students).
- Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, New Zealand Citizen, eligible humanitarian visa holder or eligible partner visa holder with a humanitarian sponsor.
- Hold a valid USI.
Eligibility is determined in accordance with the NSW Smart and Skilled Student Eligibility Policy. Meeting the general eligibility requirements does not automatically guarantee funding. To know more about eligibility criteria, please visit Smart and Skilled Funding.
Enrolment Process

- 2. Provide supporting documents.
- Photo ID
- Citizenship or Visa evidence
- Proof of NSW residence (if required)
- USI and USI Transcript
- Concession evidence (if applicable)
- Previous qualifications for RPL/Credit Transfer
- 3. Complete the enrolment form and eligibility assessment.
- 4. Receive your fee assessment.
- 5. Complete the Student Declaration and all required enrolment documentation.
- 6. Following confirmation of your eligibility and fee assessment, you will receive your Notification of Enrolment (NOE) before your training commences.
USI
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required before commencing nationally recognized training. If you do not already have one, you can create and find your USI on the portal - USI or AET can assist you to create or retrieve your USI during enrolment.
Language Literacy and Numeracy
As part of the enrolment process, students complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment. This assessment helps us identify any additional learning support you may require to successfully complete your course.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) recognizes the skills and knowledge you have gained through previous study, work experience or life experience.
